Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has ordered removing the word 'mentally and physically not fit' used by a lawmaker in the meeting of the House of Representatives on Thursday from the record of the Parliament Secretariat.
Soon after the beginning of today's HoR meeting, Chief Whip of the CPN UML, Bishal Bhattarai, demanded to remove the word from the record of the parliament, saying a lawmaker used indecent and unparliamentary words to another lawmaker.
Speaking during a special hour of the HoR meeting on Thursday, Matrika Yadav of CPN (Maoist Centre) had used the word 'mentally and physically not fit' indicating the lawmaker.
On Thursday, as soon as Yadav spoke about the word, Chief Whip Bhattarai demanded to remove the word from the record, objecting it, and Speaker Sapkota said his attention was drawn.
The Speaker provided time to leader Bhattarai to speak after CPN UML lawmakers protested it without sitting at their respective seats soon after today's meeting started.
After Bhattarai's remarks, Speaker Sapkota said, "I direct to remove the word 'mentally and physically not fit' used by Yadav in course of putting his views on Thursday's meeting is contradictory to the rule 21 (E) of the House of Representatives Regulations".
