Spice factory owner held for copyright infringement in Parsa

Police in Parsa district on Sunday arrested a man in breach of the Copyright Act in Birgunj Metropolitan City-8.

The arrested has been identified as Rohit Sah (30), owner of Annapurna Masala (spices) factory in Birgunj.

Sah had been using the trademark and label of the BMP Spices Industry for his factory products and distributing them in various markets in Birgunj and other places. It has been learnt that Sah had been involved in the illegal act to make more profit.

Acting on a tip-off, Parsa District Police Office (DPO) seized 654 packets of processed spices, 10 sacks of raw spices, a grinder machine in a raid at the factory owned by Sah. Police also recovered trademark and designed label stickers of the BMP industry.

Similarly, Shah has been charged with offences under the Copyright Act, 2059.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway after extending the custody to five days from Parsa District Court, informed the DPO.
