The Socialist Press Organization Nepal (SPON) has suspended its province assemblies. The journalists' organization affiliated to the CPN (Unified Socialist) halted its assemblies in the provinces over the growing risk of coronavirus infection in recent days.
SPON had set the date for conducting the provincial assemblies by February 12 in preparation for its National Conference slated to be held in Kathmandu on February 19.
The initial draft of the statute to be presented in the conference is in the final phase of completion. It will be sent to the Organization's province and district committees for review and feedback. The Statute Drafting Committee under the convenorship of SPON general secretary Bhuparaj Khadka is preparing the organization's statute.
SPON has recently given full shape to the 15-member secretariat and departments. It has also formed the National Conference Preparation Committee.
