JANAKPURDHAM: The supplies of meat products and alcohol have been prohibited in the Janakpurdham area beginning midnight today in view of the Sitaram Bibaha Panchami festival.
The District Administration Office, Dhanusha today issued a notice, banning the supplies of meat, fish, and liquor until the next three days. The order shall come into force until the midnight of December 7.
The Bibaha Panchami festival is concluding on December 7. The week-long Bibaha Panchami festival commemorating the union of Princess Sita and Lord Ram in Treta Yug (Vedic era) is celebrated with gaiety and religious fervor in Janakpur.
The Madhesh Province government has announced a public holiday in the Province on December 8 on the occasion of the Gadhimai festival that is observed every five years in Gadhimai temple in Bara.
