Chairperson of the Land-related Problems Resolution Commission, Devi Prasad Gyawali has said it was their overall responsibility to address the land-related problems.
Addressing the interaction programme on right to housing organised by the Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) here today, he said the Commission shall address all the land-related problems once and for all since the land-related problems are a national problem.
"The government has formulated Act and made the Commission all-powerful correcting the lacunas in the formation of the Commission in the past. The Commission will not be dissolved even if the present government is changed," he said.
Chair Gyawali said no one will be landless now as the right to land and shelter has been included under the fundamental right enshrined in the constitution itself. He said the Commission will provide land plots to the genuine landless, dalit, landless squatters and the needy as per the criteria set by the state.
He also warned of stern legal action against anyone who tried to take the land by cheating.
Bhanu Municipality's mayor Udaya Raj Gauli said the problem of landlessness was complicated in the municipality which has to be resolved through cooperation of all sides concerned.
Central member of the Commission, Ek Bahadur Rana informed that the Commission has been collecting details at the local units at present.
