Police on Saturday arrested three men in possession of tiger skin, skull, bones, and other organs in Byas Municipality-5, Tanahun district.
The arrested have been identified as Arjun Shrestha (39) of Sirubari in Byas Municipality-6; Sanjit Gurung (40) of Okhaldhi in Shuklagandaki Municipality-1 and, Santosh Gurung (32) of Ratanpur in Byas Municipality-1.
Of them, police confiscated two sets of tiger skin, a scooter with the registration number (BA 49 PA 5923), mobile phone, and Rs 1,000 from Arjun; 122 tiger bones, motorcycle with registration number GA 18 PA 5411, mobile phone, and Rs 2,000 from Sanjit. The police also seized a motorcycle with the registration number (BA 25 PA 5451), Rs 3,585, and a mobile phone from Santosh.
A joint team of security personnel deployed from Tanahun District Police Office (DPO) and Maharajgunj-based Police Headquarters Central Investigation Bureau checked them after they aroused suspicion activity, and confiscated the tiger parts and other materials from them.
Similarly, they will be tried under National Park and Conservation Act (2029).
Meanwhile, the arrestee and the confiscated tiger parts have been handed over to the Division Forest Office based in Damauli for necessary action, informed DPO, Tanahun.
