Three policemen have been honoured for helping prevent the loss of property by notifying the house owner and neighbors about an incident of fire.
Police Constables Prakash Tamang, Durga Prasad Niraula and Leela Bahadur Thapa, based at the District Police Office Khotang, were felicitated by Senior Citizens Association Khotang on Monday. The fire started by an unknown person at the shop of Mahesh Bajimay in Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-1 was immediately put out, thanks to the quick action from the police personnel.
President of the association, Durga Prasad Ghimire, said had the police not seen it dozens of houses and shops in Diktel market would have been destroyed by fire. They have been felicitated for their courage and contribution to prevent the fire incident.
Three policemen had been assigned on a night patrol from District Police Office Khotang. Province Assembly member Pancha Karna Rai honoured the Police Constables with Rs 5,000 each in cash while shop owner Bajimay added Rs 4,000 each.
Meanwhile, spokesperson of District Police Office Khotang, Police Inspector Benu Karki shared that the person who tried to set the house on fire is being searched for.
