Police in Kaski district on Monday arrested three teachers who were reportedly taking grade XI examination in a hotel in Pokhara Metropolitan City.
All the arrestees are said to be teachers at National Higher Secondary School, Purano Tundikhel, Pokhara.
Police arrested principal Surya Tiwari (48), permanent resident of Kaskikot in Pokhara-18, who had been living in Bagh Bazaar, Pokhara-1; Ghanashyam Regmi (41) of Siddha in Rupa Rural Municipality-4, currently living in Phulbari, Pokhara-11 and Shirish Kumar Bastakoti (40) of Bhalam in Pokhara-20.
According to Kaski District Police Office (DPO), the teachers had illegally taken the exempted examination of an eleventh grader female student for optional English and educational method subjects in a hotel.
Acting on the complaint letter sent by the National Exam Board (NEB), Sanothimi, Bhaktapur on January 15, a team of police personnel deployed from the DPO held the trio.
The NEB through the letter has appealed to law enforcers to investigate the case and prosecute the arrestees if found guilty of carrying out any other unrestrained activities apart from taking the exam illegally.
With the extension of five days from District Court, Kaski, in the case related to Education Act, the DPO has proceeded with the investigation, the DPO informed.
