The District Election Office, Myagdi, has stated that the voter identity card has to be submitted by March 6 to get a copy.
As the local level election is being prepared, the voters have to participate in the voting process only by taking the identity card.
District Election Officer Bhim Prasad Ghimire said that the voters can apply for a copy of the identity card with the recommendation of their ward office within the stipulated time. "If you do not have a voter ID card, you have to complete the necessary process. All the local levels in the district have been informed," he said.
Chief Ghimire said that voters should keep their identity cards with them to make the election in the district fair and credible. Meanwhile, the leaders and representatives of the active political parties in the district have demanded to remove the provision of going to the election office with the recommendation of the ward if the voter identity card is lost.
He stressed on the need to make the process easy and simple as there is a risk that the voters will be reluctant to make a copy as it will be a double hassle for the voters. According to the District Election Office, work is underway to update the compiled voter list for the upcoming election.
According to the District Election Office, the voter list with photographs of 90,000 voters has been collected till January 8 in Myagdi.
