Tremors were felt 86 times in 24 hours amidst the fear of coronavirus infection in the mountainous district, Lamjung. The earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale with its epicenter at Bhulbhule of Marsyangdi rural municipality had struck at 5.42 am on Wednesday.
After the earthquake, the tremors were felt 86 times up to 5.51 am today. According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre, the earthquake measuring over four on the Richter scale was felt six times while tremors below magnitude four were felt 82 times during the reporting period.
The Centre informed that the 3.2 magnitude earthquake occurred at 5.51 this morning as well. With the frequency of the earthquake and aftershocks, the district residents have become fearful.
Some people were forced to spend their night outside the home while some others stayed alert and awake throughout the night with intermittent jolts.
The Centre has shared that it cannot be ascertained whether or not the aftershocks would continue to take place. Chief District Officer of Lamjung Hom Prasad Luitel urged all the district residents to stay safe and alert. He also asked the locals to unite to overcome possible threats stemming from natural disasters.
