Two persons died and three others went missing after they were swept away by landslides triggered by incessant rain in Rapti and Kalika municipalities of Chitwan district, on Thursday.
According to Chitwan District Police Office, four persons dwelling in two houses were washed away when a landslide occurred in Rapti Municipality-12. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Surya Bahadur Thapa shared that a dead body was recovered some 50 metres away from the house. Police had yet to establish the identity of the deceased. Meanwhile, search is on for those who have gone missing in the landslide, the police added.
Likewise, 52-year-old Gyan Bahadur Chepang of Danetar in Kalika Municipality-11 in the district also died in a landslide.
Meanwhile, vehicular movement along the Narayanghat-Muglin road section has again come to halt since a landslide occurred near Kerabari, at 3:15 pm today. Earlier, traffic has been resumed after clearing landslide debris at 11:00 am today.
