Two fraudsters claiming to be forest officers and journalists were arrested from Morang on Friday evening.
The arrested have been identified as Pushpa Prasad Sigdel (56), a local resident of Sundarharaicha Municipality-7 in Morang district, and Dadhiram Chauhan (50), a local resident of Ithari Sub-Metropolitan-6 in Sunsari district.
They allegedly swindled money from owners of different timber mills. They had also threatened the owners that if they didn't help them then they would face serious problems to work. Security personnel deployed from the Sijuwa-based Area Police Office nabbed them from Maibeni Mill in Ratuwamai Municipality-10.
Police seized Rs 25,995 from Chauhan and Rs 7,000 from Sigdel.
The police also recovered one receipt each of Srishti Saptahik and Sandesh Dainik Samacharpatra, one diary with the accounts, one ID card of marketing manager of Kantipur Post, and two ID cards denoting them to be editors of Janamat and Baraha Saptahik from their possession.
