Two persons went missing after the jeep they were travelling on fell into a river in Mohanyal Rural Municipality of Kailali district, on Friday.
Of the five passengers travelling on the jeep, two have gone missing while three others were rescued in an injured condition, according to the Kailali District Police Office.
All the five passengers hailed from the same family. The missing ones were identified as Chandra Prakash Joshi (40) and Rubi Joshi (30) of Adarsha Rural Municipality-3 in Doti district, informed Pratik Bista, spokesperson at Kailali DPO.
Spokesperson Bista shared that those rescued from a bush alongside the river were Laxmi Joshi (8), Bhuwan Joshi (2), and Sabitri (6). The injured were referred to Nepalgunj-based hospital from Lamki-based Hospital after their condition was said to be in critical condition, police said.
The incident took place when the jeep plunged 300 metres into the river, at Banka road section of Chisapani-Solta roadway, today. The speeding jeep skidded off the road as it ran out of control at a turning, police informed.
Police have intensified the search for those who have gone missing.
