Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said the Purvanchal University (PU) needs to ensure atmosphere to run a medical college and provide service to the people by launching people-friendly schemes.
Also the Chancellor of PU, Prime Minister Dahal said it while addressing the 11th convocation ceremony of PU at its central office, Gothgao, on Sunday. PM Dahal assured that the legal problems would be solved and atmosphere created to guarantee people's right to get medical education at local level.
According to him, the university should provide useful and practical knowledge in addition to theory in view of the modern age of science and technology. Maximum use of resources and mobilization of means would help reach university to the community level, he argued.
PM Dahal also stressed robust coordination among three-tiers of government to propel democratic values and develop culture of public welfare. "Quality and employment-oriented education is the need of hour," he underscored and vowed that government would extend utmost support from its side for the PU on its development.
Dahal expressed happiness over his togetherness with the PU graduates for the second time in convocation ceremony. He wished bright future to the graduates.
On the occasion, noted educationist and founder Vice Chancellor of the Kathmandu University, Prof Dr Suresh Raj Sharma, suggested that PU could prioritize agriculture sector. Similarly, research on jute and cotton industries could not forwarded, according to him.
Vice Chancellor of PU, Prof Dr Yadav Raj Koirala, informed that the university was planning to launch MBBS programmes soon.
A total of 6,513 graduates from different streams, including medical education were ordained on the occasion.
