Vice President's concern about the ongoing human rights violations

Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun has expressed concern that despite the government's efforts to promote human rights, the incidents of human rights violations have not been stopped.

Inaugurating the '14th Human Rights National Meeting-2079' organized here today in collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission, he said that the people are unable to realize that they have full human rights.

"Human rights are for everyone. In the real sense, human rights are for the voiceless, exploited, oppressed, marginalized, and castes and classes left behind by the state", he said, "the implementation of human rights is for the advancement and progress of the society." Mentioning that respect, protection, and full observance of human rights are mandatory, Vice President Pun said that it is necessary to fully implement the legal system for the guarantee of human rights.

The Government of Nepal has fully committed to human rights and the assurance of human rights has always been Nepal's top priority, he recalled that multifaceted work is being done in Nepal for human rights. "For the implementation of human rights, the National Human Rights Commission and human rights organizations are continuing their efforts", he said, "I would like to thank the National Human Rights Commission and the organizations related to human rights for the work they are doing to guarantee human rights."

Mentioning that the Constitution of Nepal ensures many fundamental rights of the citizens, the Vice President drew the attention of all parties to implement the fundamental rights as human rights. "Human rights are the basic social, economic, civil rights and freedom that the people of the world get. Human rights such as linguistic, religious, cultural, health, right to education, freedom of movement, right to live freely, economic, social, labor and employment are all human rights," he said.

Mentioning that citizens have voted for the next five years as an exercise of human rights, Vice President Pun congratulated the general voters for participating in the election and exercising their right to vote. He believes that with the full results of the election, the government will be formed in the union and seven provinces and that government will lead the development and prosperity of the country.

The Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Tap Bahadur Magar, said that he is coordinating with the human rights organizations of the respective countries to guarantee the human rights of Nepali immigrants in the destination country. "The Commission is engaged in the protection, promotion, and promotion of human rights", he said.

In the event, 'Padmaratna Tuladhar Samman for Human Rights and Peace' was awarded to Malla K Sundar, the leader of the identity movement. Similarly, the '14th National Human Rights Mahavela Samman' was awarded to Dr. Ganesh Gurung, who worked round the clock for the human rights of migrant workers. Charan Prasain, Gauri Pradhan, Shantlal Mulmi, Dr. Gopakrishna Sivakoti, Bhawani Prasad Kharel, Dr. Sundar Thapa, Krishna Subedi, Jeetram Lama, Pradeep Pokharel, Ganesh Vick, Shantalakshmi Shrestha, Narendra Khatiwada and others who contributed to the promotion of human rights were honored on the occasion.
