The number of viral fever patients has increased rapidly in District Hospital Khotang. There has been an increase in the number of patients showing symptoms such as high fever, headache, joint, neck pain, body fatigue and nausea for weeks.
Dr. Pushkal Rai said that around 150 patients come for treatment in the OPD (outpatient) service of the district hospital. "50 to 60 percent of the patients who came for examination have shown symptoms of corona virus", he said.
Other patients who came for treatment were killed after health workers started falling ill due to symptoms similar to the symptoms of covid-19. Out of the 58 health workers of the district hospital, 14 health workers have fallen ill, informed Ravin Phuyal, the head of administration of the district hospital.
In order to continue the service delivery, some health workers are taking medicine and treating patients. Panic has increased as the number of viral fever patients showing symptoms of covid-19 in the district has increased.
The Covid hospitals that were previously operated in the district where there are ten local levels are now inactive. Punya Prasad Sikdel, head of district health office Khotang, informed that the necessary materials have been gathered to bring the inactive hospital back into operation after the increase in corona infection.
As the corona infection is increasing, District Administration Office Khotang has asked for mandatory use of masks and sanitizers. In order to prevent the spread of the infection of covid-19 in the district and to make prevention and control work effective, the administration has requested to use mandatory masks and sanitizers in public places.
It has been requested to make the use of masks mandatory at the airport, and to make the use of masks mandatory when coming to get services at government offices that are crowded with customers. According to the District Health Office, 3,502 people have been infected in the district so far. Similarly, so far 1 lakh seven thousand 42 people have been fully vaccinated and 121 thousand four hundred and 30 people have received the first dose. Chief of District Health Office Khotang Sikdel informed that there is one ventilator, seven ambulances, two hundred oxygen cylinders and 37 oxygen concentrators in the district.
San Bahadur Rai, Chairman of the Hospital Operation and Management Committee, has said that the oxygen plant installed in the District Hospital Khotang has been put into operation as the rate of corona infection is increasing. The oxygen plant, which was established with an investment of Rs. 1.5 million, was officially put into operation from last Monday.
