The flow of water in the Saptakoshi River on the border of Saptari and Sunsari has increased exponentially. The flow of water in Saptakoshi has increased due to heavy rains in the eastern hills and Terai region since last night.
According to Koshi Barrage, the water flow in Saptakoshi today is one lakh 26 thousand 505 cusec per second. Out of 56 gates of Koshi Barrage, 16 gates are now open. Chief District Officer Janardan Gautam informed that the embankment and spurs were safe despite the rising water level.
The flow of the river, which was normal till Monday, has been increasing in the last 24 hours. The water level of Koshi is rising due to the ongoing rains in the eastern region. Meanwhile, the local administration office has urged the residents of the coastal area of Koshi to be vigilant. Boating on the river has been banned as the flow has increased. The administration has also banned fishing and fetching firewood from the river.
