While there is a shortage of blood in Kathmandu Valley, a blood donation program has been organized by Namaskar Charitable Organization. In the program organized by the organization in collaboration with Nepal Red Cross Society in Waffle today, 55 people have donated blood.
Speaking on the occasion, CPN (UML) leader and former minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha said that the charity organization has started a good work by organizing blood donation program at a time when there was shortage of blood. "One drop of your blood can save the life of a person like you, so let's participate in a blood donation program," he said. Former Minister Shrestha also urged to continue the blood donation program as it is a charitable act.
Divya Raj Poudel, director of the Nepal Red Cross Society, said that every person should donate blood three to four times a year to live a healthy life. He said that the Nepal Red Cross Society has installed a high-tech machine to test the blood transfusion. He thanked the organization for promoting Nepal's blood transfusion service through volunteering.
Social worker and chairman of Namaskar Philanthropy, Tara Bahadur Kunwar informed that Namaskar organization organizes blood donation program every week. In the first phase, 15 consecutive weeks of blood donation program has been organized. Social worker Kunwar said that the second phase of the program will be continued.
