The Election Commission has set a limit of Rs 750,000 for the mayor and the deputy mayor of metropolises.
Similarly, the mayor and the deputy mayor of sub-metropolises will be allowed to spend only up to Rs 550,000 at most.
The limit has been set such that the mayor and the deputy mayor of municipalities can spend Rs. 450,000 and village municipality mayors and deputy mayors can spend Rs. 350,000 on the election campaign.
Henceforth, ward chairpersons and members of metropolises will be able to spend Rs. 300,000, while ward chairpersons and members of sub-metropolises will be able to spend only Rs. 250,000.
The code of conduct has been issued so that ward chairpersons and members of the municipality can spend Rs 200,000 and the ward chairperson and members of the village municipality can spend Rs 150,000.
