The Nepal office of the World Health Organisation (WHO) has tweeted mentioned that there is no new ‘Nepal variant’ of the coronavirus.

In its tweet, the WHO has stated that WHO is not aware of any new variant of SARS-CoV-2 being detected in Nepal. The Keycap digit three confirmed variants in circulation are Alpha (B.1.1.7), Delta (B.1.617.2) and Kappa (B.1.617.1). The predominant variant currently in circulation in Nepal is Delta (B.1.617.2).

Apparently, Daily Mail, a British tabloid, ran a story on June 2 saying that scientists have confirmed the discovery of a new variant of COVID-19 with its origin in Nepal. The tabloid has written that the new variant, which it has dubbed the ‘Nepal variant’, has spread to Europe and is resistant to vaccines.
