Speaker of the House of Representatives, Agni Prasad Sapkota, has called for a meeting of the senior leaders of the parties that represent the parliament today. The speaker, who has been holding consultations with lawyers on a regular basis since President Bidhya Devi Bhandari dissolved the House on the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and the Council of Ministers on May 22, has sought a meeting with all the senior party leaders of the parliament.
The all-party meeting will take place at Lhotse Hall of the parliament in New Baneshwor. The secretariat of the speaker has informed that even Prime Minister Oli has been called for the meeting.
At present, the Supreme Court is hearing the writ petitions filed against the dissolution of the House of Representatives. Speaker Sapkota has called the meeting to discuss on the current political developments and what could be the next possible steps.
The House was dissolved on May 22 and the dates for the mid-term elections were also fixed. The mid-term elections are to be held in two phases on November 12 and 19.
Meanwhile, the secretariat of the Prime Minister’s Office has already informed that PM Oli will not be attending the all-party meeting called by Speaker Sapkota today.
