District Election Office has said 2,343 candidates involved in the May 13 local election failed to submit election spending. The candidates involved in 15 local levels election and elections to district coordination committee in the district.
Among the total candidates, only 520 candidates submitted the spending records they made during the election, according to Information Officer, Prem Neupane. He added that all the candidates in the local level elections have their deadline getting expired for expense submission. As a rule, the electoral candidates submit their spending details within one month of the voting.
Neupane further shared that the candidates from the big political parties provided the spending details but the independent candidates are awaited.
The Election Commission had provided the rule that Municipality Mayor and Deputy Mayor could spend Rs 450,000 while Rs 350,000 was the ceiling for Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of Rural Municipality and Rs 200,000 for Ward Chair and members. Those who fail to submit the electoral spending details will be disqualified for the next round of candidacy.
