CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' said the health sector was sensitive to the life of the people and the nation.
Dahal, also the former Prime Minister, said this while inaugurating the two-day first national general convention of the Maoist Centre-close Federation of All Nepal Progressive Public Health Professionals in Pokhara on Friday.
He further noted that there was high chance of making leap progress in public health sector by embracing recent advancement of technology in health sector.
He claimed capitalism has made the health sector a subject to trade and continued the trend to play with the health of the people.
"Prevalence of growing infighting in society has made the health sector a subject to war between the capitalism and socialism", he claimed.
However, progress made so far and new experiments and innovations taking place in the sector has created huge opportunity to bring quality changes.
The Federation and its constituent organizations he said should take up responsibility for making public health a convenient, reliable and accessible service and sensitizing the people about newer dimensions of public health.
Chairperson Dahal said though education, health and employment was constitutionally-enshrined fundamental rights of the people challenges were surfaced in implementation in lack of relevant laws.
As many as 500 delegates and 75 observers are participating in the general convention, shared Federation chair Dr Krishna Sagar Poudel. The general convention would elect a new leadership for next four-year term
