Bagmati Chief Minister Asta Laxmi Shakya, who is about to take a vote of confidence today, will resign after addressing the state assembly meeting.
After falling in the minority vote, Chief Minister Shakya had submitted a proposal in the meeting of the state assembly on September 30 to get a vote of confidence. Her motion of confidence was tabled in the state assembly on October 21. However, Speaker Sanukumar Shrestha postponed the meeting twice.
The ruling party UML currently has 43 MPs in the state assembly. There are 23 MPs from the UCPN (Maoist) Center, 22 from the Congress, 13 from the Unified Socialists, 1 from the Janata Samajwadi Party, 3 from the Vibekshil Sajha, 9 from the Nepal Mazdur Kisan Party, and 2 from the RPP.
