Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Poudel has said the country has geared up for election.

In his address to a national conclave of Nepal Federation of Professionals in Kathmandu today, he said the government has stepped up its entire preparation for election.

"The Election Commission, security agencies and all other agencies concerned have intensified their preparation to that end", he said, assuring that election would be held in the stipulated date.

It may be noted that the government has announced the mid-term parliamentary election for coming April 30 and May 10.

Minister Poudel, also the general secretary of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), said the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's move to dissolve the parliament was to take the country to stability. "Nepali people are also supporting the move to go for election".

He also made it clear that the decision to go for fresh people's mandate would in no way be an autocratic move.

Also speaking at the same programme, Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Shankar Pokhrel claimed that the HoR was dissolved in defence of democracy while adding that National Assembly, Province Assembly, constitutional bodies and local levels were active.

Saying that the HoR dissolution was only till mid-May, Pokhrel mentioned that the situation will return to normalcy after the poll to be held in May.

Lumbini Province CM Pokhrel was of the view that the ruling NCP would emerge victorious in the upcoming election for its better performance.

Similarly, Pokhrel claimed that the party's committee cannot relinquish KP Sharma Oli from his post since Oli was elected the party chairman from the general convention.

On the occasion, the 275-member general convention organising committee of the federation was announced. Baburam Thapa was named as the convener and Daya Ram Basyal as the deputy convener of the general convention organising committee.
