Chairperson of CPN Maoist Centre, Pushpa Kamal Dahal today filed an application at the Supreme Court for the review of its verdict that annulled the Nepal Communist Party (NCP).
Dahal along with other leaders of CPN MC including Janardan Sharma, Haribol Gajurel, Giriraj Mani Pokharel reached the court and registered an application for the review of the apex court's verdict at 11:00 am on Tuesday, Janardan Sharma told NepalNews.
The Supreme Court on March 7 delivered a verdict that 'Nepal Communist Party (NCP)' belongs to leader Rishi Kattel. The bench of Justices Bam Kumar Shrestha and Kumar Regmi delivered the decision in response to a writ petition filed by leader Kattel arguing that NCP led by KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal had a similar name to the party he was leading.
Kattel had argued in the writ petition that he had registered the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) at Election Commission in 2069 BS, but then CPN-UML and CPN Maoist Centre registered the party in the same name, Nepal Communist Party (NCP) after unification in 2075 BS.
