The CPN (Unified Socialist) has concluded that it would give continuity to the collaboration with the current coalition partners in future.

After the party top leaders’ meeting today, CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal said the meeting decided to devise the party's future strategy following the political development unfolding as the recently held election's results were out.

Nepal, also a former Prime Minister, shared that the meeting seriously contemplated on the future course of the national politics by taking into account the possibility of ushering Nepal towards right-wing direction.

In the meeting, they discussed the result of the November 20's parliamentary election and party's performances throughout the country.

According to him, the meeting took the result of Ilam and Udayapur districts into serious account.

The party will review the result of the election as final results of some constituencies are yet to come, Chairman Nepal said.

Congratulating the party's candidates elected in the recently held election, the party extended gratitude to all the election staffers including security personnel and the voters as well.

However, Chairman Nepal ruled out the possibility of left-wing parties forming a new government in the current context.

Similarly, the party’s spokesperson Jagannath Khatiwada shared that they will review the election's results and party's performance by convening the meetings of the party standing committee, central committee and district committees.

Although the election results were not satisfactory to the party, the party decided that the achievements secured by the dent of the coalition should be protected and should collaborate as per the sentiments of the coalition, Spokesperson Khatiwada added.

There was no discussion during the meeting about the CPN (US) joining the government considering the final election result not out yet while re-election is due in some constituencies and disputes continue in a few constituencies, the Spokesperson said.

"The equation of the parliamentarians could be up and down based on the number of seats secured by the political parties under the Proportional Representation (PR) system. We did not discuss the situation of government formation today," he asserted.

He added, for the party to decide on its future course of action, factors like parliamentary mathematics should be fixed and how the government will be formed should be fixed first.
