CPN(US), largest party in Sudurpaschim

The newly formed CPN (Unified Socialist) Party has become the largest party in the Sudurpaschim Provincial Assembly.

The party has become the largest party with 14 state assembly members. CPN-UML-elected state assembly member Maya Tamang Bohara reached the state election office in Dhangadhi today and verified herself in favor of the newly formed party. Earlier, CPN (UML) elected state assembly member and Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development Dirgha Bahadur Sodari, Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Purna Joshi, Minister for Social Development Lal Bahadur Khadka, Ministers of State Chunkumari Chaudhary and Manakumari Saud had verified themselves in favor of the newly formed party. Similarly, former Minister of State Prakash Rawal, UML Parliamentary Party Chief Whip Durga Kumari Kami, Former Chief Whip Tara Lama Tamang, Former Ministers Maya Bhatt, Sushila Budhathoki, Amar Bahadur Saud, Kulbir Chaudhary, and Bal Bahadur Sodari also joined the new party. Minister Sodari was the UML chairperson of Kailali and former chief whip Tamang was the UML chairperson of Kanchanpur. In the state assembly, the CPN-UML is now limited to 10 members except the speaker. Earlier, the CPN-UML was the largest party in the state assembly with 25 members. There are 13 members of the CPN (Maoist Center), 12 members of the Nepali Congress, and two members of the Janata Samajwadi Party in the state assembly. There are a total of 52 members from different parties in the state assembly. Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Joshi and former Minister Maya Bhatt are central members of the Samajwadi Party.
