There seems to be no end to the controversy surrounding the composition of the constitutional bench formed to hear the writ petitions filed against the dissolution of the House of Representatives at the Supreme Court.
Earlier today, Attorney General Ramesh Badal had sought the removal of Justices Deepak Kumar Karki and Anand Mohan Bhattarai from the constitutional bench. Now, former Attorney General Agni Kharel too has stated that he has doubts on whether the present constitutional bench would be able to issue a just and independent verdict.
Kharel too has stated that Justices Karki and Bhattarai should be asked to vacate the constitutional bench. He has said that it does not make proper sense for justices whose roles have been questioned to still remain in the constitutional bench.
The constitutional bench formed to hear the writs today comprised of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana and Justices Deepak Kumar Karki, Meera Khadka, Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada and Anand Mohan Bhattarai.
