The government of Lumbini Province has announced the budget through an ordinance today.

The alliance of the four parties has staked its claim for forming a new government in Lumbini Province.

The alliance comprising the Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Centre), Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) and Rastriya Janamorcha staked its claim before the Province governor.

CPN (Maoist Centre) Parliamentary Party leader, Kul Prasad KC, with the support of four parties, staked the claim for the post of the Chief Minister before Province Chief Amik Sherchan. Chief Whip of the NC Parliamentary Party, Phakharuddhin Khan, said that the alliance along with a signature of 41 province assembly members staked its claim for the formation of the new government.

The Lumbini Province Assembly has now 80 members and forty-one members are needed for the majority. There are 19 members of the Nepali Congress, 18 of CPN (Maoist Centre), three of JSP and one of Janamorcha in the Province Assembly.

It is said that the CPN UML, which has 39 members in the Province Assembly, however, did not stake its claim for the government. (Photo available)
