The ward convention of the Nepali Congress Kathmandu concluded today. Owing to the dispute over active membership, the pre-scheduled ward convention of NC Kathmandu could not take place in the stipulated date.
Chief Election Officer of the NC Kathmandu Narahari Acharya said that the ward convention took place peacefully in Kathmandu. It is the district with the highest number of electoral constituencies and active members.
Kathmandu has 10 House of Representatives electoral constituencies and 20 province assembly electoral constituencies and 11 local levels, including Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
Around 60 percent wards out of total 138 picked their leadership unanimously while the election is taking place for the posts including president and secretary in some wards, Acharya informed.
There are more than 30,000 active members of NC in Kathmandu. NC has a total of 900,000 active members. They have the voting right to elect their ward committee and regional representatives.
The 14th general convention of the NC has been scheduled to take place on coming 25-29 November.
