Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has expressed the view that the MCC agreement recently passed by the parliament will play an important role in the development of Nepal. He expressed the view that the development of the nation could be achieved soon if the money received from MCC could be utilized as it was a grant and not loan assistance.

Addressing a function organized by Nepali Congress Parsa in Birgunj today, Prime Minister Deuba expressed confidence that not only the United States but also other rich nations of the world would invest in Nepal and end unemployment and backwardness in the country.

Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Deuba said that Nepal, which is in the midst of huge nations like China and India, needed the cooperation of both the countries for the development of the country and it was necessary to maintain balanced friendly relations with both the nations.

Prime Minister Deuba, who is also the president of the Nepali Congress, said that he would participate in the local elections by coordinating with the parties participating in the government. He said that discussions are underway with the parties to contest the election in the alliance as there is a strong possibility of victory at all three levels including local, state, and federal.

He further added that Congress was defeated in the 2074 BS election as all the communists were united and not weakened.

Chairman Deuba has welcomed the leaders and cadres including Dipnarayan Rauniyar (Mantu), chief of Pokhariya Municipality of Parsa, who have left various parties and joined the Congress party. Nepali Congress central members Ramesh Rijal, Ajay Chaurasia, Constituent Assembly member Anil Rungta, a former member of the House of Representatives Surendra Chaudhary, and others claimed that the party would win a majority in the upcoming three-tier election.
