National Assembly Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsina administered oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected President of the Legislation Management Committee.
At a programme organized at the federal parliament building in Singha Durbar today, newly-elected President Rai took the oath. Rai is the National Assembly Member representing the CPN (Unified Socialist).
Rai assumed her office today itself. Talking to the RSS after taking up the office, Rai pledged to actively play a role to formulate laws in the best interest of the country and citizens.
"The bills presented in the Committee will be taken to conclusion at the earliest. I am fully confident that all the members in the Committee would work in unison to fulfill their designated responsibilities."
Currently, there are bills relating to Order of Precedence, Nepal University, COVID-19 Crisis Management and others.
Rai's predecessors were Parshuram Meghi Gurung and Dr Beduram Bhusal. The post of the Committee's President was vacant after Dr Bhusal assumed the responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development in the incumbent government.
With Rai elected to the leadership position in the parliamentary committee, there are two women Presidents in the parliamentary committees at present.
Dil Kumari Thapa is the President of the National Concerns and Coordination Committee.
