There are 43 candidates from nine political parties for 19 vacant posts in the National Assembly.
Election Commission Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma informed that nomination papers have been registered from 43 candidates for the upcoming election. The election was scheduled to be held from 10 am to 3 pm today.
The commission will provide election symbols to the candidates on January 9. The term of eight members of the CPN (UML), four members of the CPN (Unified Socialist), four members of the CPN (Maoist Center), and three members of the Nepali Congress is coming to an end on March 4. There is a provision that the election should be held 35 days before the expiration of the term of the member.
There are 2,025 voters for the election, including members of the state assembly and the chief and deputy chief of the municipality. In the election, the votes of the members of the state assembly will be 48, and the votes of the chief and deputy chief of the municipality will be 18.
