Chairperson of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP), Narayan Man Bijukchhe, has said Nepali Congress has not been able to perform the role of the opposition party.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 13th anniversary of Rafat Sanchar Club, Bhaktapur, Chairperson Bijukchhe blamed the NC for introducing a new practice of supporting the government even though it is the main opposition party. "The main opposition party never supports the government. The main opposition party should scrutinize the government's activities as a shadow government and raise alarm against the wrong deeds of the government. But the Nepali Congress has kept itself away from this responsibility."
He further said it was wrong to stop lawmakers from speaking in the parliament.
Similarly, Deputy General Secretary of the CPN (UML), Pradeep Gyawali, said that it was the responsibility of the Prime Minister to keep the ruling alliance intact and to establish political stability.
Saying there is a lack of credibility in news disseminated by some Nepali media, he stressed the need of stopping such news disseminated in a biased manner.
On the occasion, two journalists and a health worker were awarded. NWPP Chairperson Bijukchhe honored RSS correspondent Ramesh Giri with the 'Rafat Active Journalism Award'. The award carries a purse of Rs 5,500 and a letter of felicitation.
