Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has stressed the need for giving publicity to the party's contributions to having established democracy in the country through various movements it led.
Releasing a book 'Brief History of the Nepali Congress' penned by NC leader and former minister Arjun Narsingh KC at the official residence of the Prime Minister at Baluwatar today, Prime Minister Deuba said it was necessary to defend fearlessly against the false propaganda about the NC active in favor of democracy, justice and equality since its establishment.
He laid an emphasis on the need for making publicity to remarkable works carried out by the NC for the country's development and the people's upliftment since the establishment of democracy in the country by leading democratic movements in Nepal.
He mentioned that the NC, which has been working in the favor of the people and the nation since its establishment, has its clear stance that the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact should be passed as 'it is for the development of Nepal'.
The PM stated, "The NC has the same view regarding the project. The party has already decided to pass it."
The NC would always respect figures, BP Koirala, Ganeshman Singh, Subarna Shumsher Rana, Krishna Prasad Bhattarai, and Surya Nath Upadhyay, who has given a great contribution to the establishment of democracy in Nepal, he said.
He expressed the view that all citizens should read the book written by leader KC, saying the book would be a guideline to anyone who wants to know about the party's history.
Similarly, NC's General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa said that it was necessary for the people associated with NC to understand the NC, adding the book would become a source of inspiration to those who want to know about the party.
The book author and NC leader Arjun Narsingh KC has said that the book aimed to deal with queries raised during various party programs and training sessions when he spent approximately three decades at the party central level.
Commenting on the book, Prof and senior journalist Purushottam Dahal said that it was a positive trend of a top party leader authoring a book on NC's history.
Similarly, political analyst Shree Krishna Anirudra Gautam said that the book tried to remove confusion about how and why the NC was created. Despite language errors, the wok is readable, he added.
Published by the Oxford International Publication, the 484-page book has featured NC's history, its structural organization, contributions of its leaders, history, and election symbol of the party. It has also featured NC's struggles during the revolution of 2007 BS, its status during political activities between 2007-2015 BS, the formation of the people's elected government led by the NC after 2015 BS, and challenges it faced after 2017 BS.
