The counting of votes for the open central member of the Nepali Congress, which started on Saturday, is underway. Out of the 35 open central members to be elected, 2393 votes have been counted so far in the election.
According to the results of the public vote, Dr Shashank Koirala, who was also the former general secretary from the beginning, is in the first place with 1971 votes. NP Saund is in second place with 1538 votes while Bal Krishna Khan is in third place with 1503 votes.
Similarly, Ramesh Lekhak with 1451 votes and Uday Shamsher Rana with 1445 votes are in the fourth and fifth position. Leaders of Nepal Students Union Kundan Kafle, Rajiv Dhungana and Sunil Thapa from RPP have also been included in the list. Ganesh Lama has dropped to 36th position.
There are 99 candidates vying for 35 open seats.
