Nagesh Koirala of the Nepali Congress has won the post of chief of the Biratnagar Metropolitan City of Morang by getting 30,170 votes.
According to the State Election Office, Biratnagar, his nearest rival Sagar Thapa of the CPN-UML polled 21,455 votes.
CPN-UML's Shilpa Niraula Karki has won the by-poll with 25,680 votes while her nearest rival Amarendra Yadav of Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal polled 14,219 votes.
In the local level election held on May 13, the CPN-UML has won the ward chairpersons of wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 10, 11, 14 and 19. Similarly, Nepali Congress candidates have won in 5th, 6th, 79th, 15th and 16th wards. Similarly, Janata Samajwadi Party has been elected ward chairpersons of wards 12 and 17, RPP of ward 13 and Swatantra in ward 18.
