Party leaders who are close to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli have gone to meet senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal at his residence in Koteshwor to placate him. PM Oli, who is also the chairperson of CPN UML, in recent days, has been trying to placate Nepal and the leaders in his faction so as to maintain the unity of the party.
The leaders of Oli faction met Nepal and collectively briefed him about the various steps that have been taken to forge unity within the party. Senior leaders Bishnu Prasad Poudel, Shankar Pokhrel and Subash Nemwang also met Nepal to explain the decisions taken by the party so as to appease him.
The Central Committee meeting of CPN UML has given disgruntled leaders of the party who have signed to appoint Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba until Monday evening to withdraw their signatures. PM Oli has said that if the signatures are not withdrawn then all efforts that have made for the unity of the party will be futile.
