Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is likely to be the executive head of the country again. During his press conference today he mentioned that he would again claim for the post of prime minister to form the new government.
PM Oli also said that he still has the support of 121 parliamentarians hence he would claim for the prime minister’s post. He further stated that he would win the vote of confidence within the stipulated 30-day deadline.
He also said that the opposition has only 110 lawmakers and if he does not win the vote of confidence within 30 days then the country will have to go for elections. PM Oli mentioned that if the country has to go for elections then that would be because of the irresponsible behaviour of the opposition.
Yesterday, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari had called on members of the House of Representatives to claim premiership furnishing grounds to win the vote of confidence in the Parliament.
As per Article 76 (5), the president can appoint any member of parliament if the member presents sufficient ground that he or she can win the vote of confidence in the Parliament. The deadline to furnish such a claim is 5 pm today.
