Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has accepted the resignation of newly appointed Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Gajendra Bahadur Hamal.
According to the PM's private secretariat, the minister has resigned after questions were raised about Hamal's appointment.
Accepting the PM's request, Hamal resigned from his post on Sunday morning, according to the PM's private secretariat.
"Honorable Prime Minister, since I have been active in various positions of the Congress for a long time and also served as the party president of Banke district, I think the party has evaluated and appointed me as a minister. However, such news has devalued our years-long struggle for democracy, the rule of law and the principle of separation of powers between state bodies. However, since the issue of my appointment has been raised, I have resigned from the post of Minister as it is not appropriate for me to remain in the post amidst such apprehensions, " Hamal said in his resignation letter.
