The proposal seeking consideration on the Railway Bill-2022 AD has been unanimously passed in today's meeting of House of Representatives (HoR) here today.
Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Mohammad Ishtiyaq Rai presented the proposal for the same.
The Bill was originated in the National Assembly (NA) and was endorsed by NA on July 1 this year.
Earlier, Minister Rai responded to the queries raised by various parliamentarians on the Bill and clarified that the government did not intend to allow foreigners to operate railways services but it could consider taking support from the private sector of foreign companies on the basis of prevailing laws.
Rai further asserted that his Ministry was vigilant to deliver in such a way that would not mar sovereignty of the country and would comply with the laws.
He pointed out the need for Railway related Act at the time when the Janakpur-Jayanagar railway service was already operative.
The newly appointed Minister said," Failure to bring related Act on time could lead to shutdown of the railway services." Parliamentarians taking part in today's deliberation on the Bill were Divya Maniraj Bhandari, Bhim Bahadur Rawal and Prem Suwal.
