Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel on Saturday said that the time has come for seeking an alternative to party’s upcoming 14th General Convention reasoning that party is at risk of being in a crisis constitutionally.
“The NC has shouldered responsibility to save people from COVID-19, constitutional system that has been achieved from long struggle and the party itself from a crisis,” he said at an event organised here by party district liaison committee, Kathmandu.
Democracy and country’s future cannot be saved until NC survives, he argued.
On the occasion, party spokesperson Bishwo Prakash Sharma said that it was misfortunate that COVID-19 infected people have died due to lack of oxygen, thanks to irresponsibility of the government.
“NC jumped in to form a new government after President called for a new government following failure of the incumbent government to win a trust vote,” he said.
Party central member Dr Dila Sangraula accused the government of failure to take guardianship of people during the pandemic.
Similarly, lawmaker Amaresh Kumar Singh said that the NC has shouldered responsibility to protect constitution.
