Heavy vehicles have been banned from operating on the Butwal-Narayangadh section road for the convenience of the upcoming 10th National General Convention of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML).
A meeting held by security chiefs of Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta East) and Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta West) on Wednesday decided to stop heavy vehicles movement from 6 pm today to Friday (tomorrow). Chief District Officer of West Nawalparasi Manmaya Bhattarai Pangeni said that the vehicles are to be stopped considering the regular traffic jams.
The narrow and steep roads in Daunne area see jams daily due to freight vehicles. Pangeni said that the vehicles must be stopped for the convenience of vehicles coming to the general convention.
A crane has been provided to clear the road immediately in case of a traffic jam. People coming from Lumbini, Karnali, and Far West must go to Chitwan via Daunne Road. Arrangements have been made for 80,000 people from Lumbini province alone to participate in the inauguration program. "Freight trucks, tippers, and other empty trucks have been completely banned due to the condition of Daunne road," said Prajia Pangeni.
Pangeni also informed that Lumbini State Traffic Office has coordinated to make arrangements for other private vehicles to pass through Pokhara. Vehicles traveling east-west will be stopped from Rupandehi and Gaindakot from this evening. According to Pangeni, the joint patrol has been mobilized by appointing two liaison officers from each of the four security agencies (Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, National Investigation Department, and Nepal Army) to facilitate the movement.
The inaugural program of the UML National General Convention will be held on Friday at Narayani Bank in Chitwan. UML has stated to have prepared to unload 500,000 people in the inauguration program.
