The Supreme Court will be hearing the writ petitions filed against the dissolution of the House of Representatives today too. The hearings could not be conducted on Monday as some advocates who had filed the writ were against the composition of the constitutional bench that was to hear the petitions.
The hearings on the 30 writ petitions that had been filed at the Supreme Court against President Bidhya Devi Bhandari’s move to dissolve the House and announce dates for mid-term elections had begun on Friday. During Sunday’s hearing a few advocates who had filed the writs had questioned the legitimacy of including two of the justices in the constitutional bench.
The concerned advocates have asked Justices Tej Bahadur KC and Bam Kumar Shrestha to recuse themselves from the constitutional bench. Though a decision regarding this was supposed to be taken on Monday, it was not done so.
A decision regarding the inclusion of the two said judges will likely take place today before the hearings on the writ petitions are started.
