9th National Games: Army tops with 248 medals

The Nepal Army Club continues to extend its lead in the medals tally of the In the 9th national games being held in Gandaki province,

So far, out of a total of 916 medals, the NAC has won 248 medals including 140 gold, 76 silver and 58 bronze medals. Nepal Police Club or NPC is in second place with 135 medals including 45 gold, 41 silver and 49 bronze medals.

Likewise, another departmental team, the Armed Police Force (APF) won a total of 146 medals including 37 gold, 43 silver and 66 bronze medals to remain in the third position. Gandaki province won 86 medals including 24 gold, 23 silver and 39 bronze medals while Bagmati province bagged 95 medals including 19 gold, 33 silver and 43 bronze medals.

Meanwhile, the NRNA team won 23 medals including 10 gold, seven silver and six bronze, Sudurpaschim Province won eight gold, four silver, 24 bronze for a total of 36 medals, Province 1 won 59 medals including five gold, 20 silver and 34 bronze, Madhes province won 32 medals with five gold, seven silver and 20 bronze medals.

Lumbini province won 44 medals including three gold, 15 silver and 26 bronze medals and Karnali province won 12 medals including one gold, two silver and nine bronze medals, according to the National Sports Council.

The 9th national games will come to an end tomorrow. According to National Sports Council, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba will attend the grand closing ceremony to be held at Pokhara Stadium on Thursday afternoon.

Khusraj Dahal, secretary of Publicity Sub-Committee shared that various cultural programs, pageantry, songs, music and dance will be organized in the closing ceremony. The next host of the 10th national games will also be announced at the ceremony.

Before the end of the games, the final match of the men's football will be held at the Pokhara stadium. Nepali Army and the Armed Police Force are competing for the coveted gold medal of men's football.
