National football team coach Abdullah Almutairi wrote a letter to the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) General Secretary Indraman Tuladhar urging him not to take any action against the players who made allegations against him.
Ten players, including Rohit Chand, who was in the closed training for the Asia Cup qualifiers, had leveled serious allegations against coach Almutairi. According to him, Almutairi had sent Rohit Chand home after asking improvements in the service facilities of the hostel. They claim that Almutairi has taken them out of the closed training rather than taking their problems into account.
However, Almutairi's letter to ANFA did not say anything about that. He said that the statements made by the players against him were insulting. In a letter to the ANFA Secretary General, he said, "I forgive, for insulting remarks made, the players. I humbly request that these players not be punished for their mistakes."
Head coach Abdullah Almutairi said the players had been dropped from the Asia Cup qualifiers for leaving closed training without their permission. Players Vishal Shrestha, Ananta Tamang, Anjan Bista, Vimal Ghartimagar, Dinesh Rajbanshi, Suman Lama, Rohit Chand, Sujal Shrestha, Tej Tamang and Vishal Rai left the closed training camp protesting against the behavior of the coach.
