The closed training camp for players of the Nepali national women’s football team will begin on July 18. The training is in preparation for the qualifier of the Women’s AFC Asian Cup football tournament that is going to be held in India next year.
Head coach of the women’s team, Gary Phillips, has selected 45 players for the closed training session.
Nepal has been placed in Group F of the qualifier for the Women’s AFC Asian Cup football tournament. The other countries in the group are Hong Kong and the Philippines. The draw for the qualifying round was held at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on June 24.
There are 28 nations participating in the qualifying round. The teams have been divided into four groups of four teams each and four groups of three teams each.
The qualifying rounds will begin from September 13 to 25. All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has informed that the Women’s AFC Asian Cup football tournament will be held from January 20 till February 6 next year.
