Shaw, Warner blaze away

Against the Lucknow Super Giants, Prithvi Shaw had been imperious imperious.  He started in similar fashion in this game, too, clipping one behind square leg to pick up a four.

Umesh Yadav went short in the third over, frustrated at the quick start Shaw was providing. He persisted with the short ball, but with his extra pace, it was easy pickings for the batter. At the other end, David Warner thumped Pat Cummins for successive fours before Shaw finished the over with a six to bring up the fifty run stand within four overs.

Narine a class above the rest

In an afternoon where none of six bowlers could go at less than 8 runs an over, Sunil Narine was miserly in his spell and picked up two wickets as well.. Lalit Yadav was trapped leg before wicket, and Rovman Powell top-edged a slog sweep for an easy catch at fine leg. Narine's performance seemed to transfer to the other bowlers as well, as Yadav got rid of Warner for 61 soon after.

Rahane's luck; Ahmed's hardwork

The Knight Riders' chase was full of drama from the very start. On the first ball, Mustafizur Rahman appealed for caught-behind against Ajinkya Rahane. Despite being given out by the on-field umpire, he opted for the decision review system (DRS) and had it overturned. The very next ball, he was given out once again for being tapped leg before. However, the DRS came in handy once again, as it showed that the ball had hit the bat before pad. Rahane then chased the third ball and got the faintest of edges to Rishabh Pant, the keeper. However, none of the fielders appealed and he survived again.

Eventually, Khaleel Ahmed finally ended Rahane's stay, with Shardul Thakur taking a good catch to see the back of the veteran.

Kuldeep continues to trouble batters

Sam Billings and Andre Russell were barely keeping the Knight Riders' hopes alive after they suffered a collapse which saw their set batters, Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana, get dismissed.  Billings managed to get 10 runs in the 14th over but Ahmed got rid of him as well. The next over, Kuldeep Yadav left Pat Cummins frustrated as he trapped him in front of the stumps, ensuring the Australian Test captain would not show a repeat of his heroics from the match against the Mumbai Indians. Narine and Umesh Yadav perished in the same over, too, leaving KKR requiring 73 from four overs. Even for the reputation that Russell hold, the ask was far too high.
