The National Sports Welfare Fund, established with the aim of providing assistance to athletes in emergencies, has provided medical expenses to the athletes undergoing treatment.
Tankalal Ghisingh, member secretary of National Sports Council, who is also the chairman of the fund, handed over cheques for the medical expenses to 3 different players undergoing treatment.
The players who received the treatment money are Selisha Khadgi of table tennis, Chandan Shahi of table tennis and Anju Khadka of athletics.
Cheque of 2 lakhs was handed over to Khadgi's brother, who is undergoing treatment for cancer. Similarly, a cheque of 1 lakh was handed over to Chandan Shahi, who was being treated at the Trauma Center Bir Hospital due to physical illness. Also, a cheque of 1 lakh was handed over to Anju of Athletics, who was involved in a scooter accident. Anju is undergoing treatment at KMC Hospital.
